Album Haiku: The One That Got A Wake by See Me River
Goth rock country tunes
Perfect for a rainy day
With pop under tones.
4 1/2 out of 5 stars
The One That Got A Wake came out today and we can’t get enough of See Me River. There is something that is so hypnotizing and gloomy about their music. It’s rough Americana country with pop ballads and indie rock. The opening piano of “Heroine” will have you doing curtseys around the living room in a black Bauhaus shirt. I love the break downs and surfeit of beautifully played instruments. “Heroine” is the perfect opening track to this CD, it hooks you in instantly (at least it did for us) and captures the dark beauty of the band. The title track “The One That Got A Wake” also opens with a solo but from an acoustic guitar that is perfectly plucked into a chant like opening verse. “The Day the Sun Died” reminds me of a mid-evil court dance, it is so fast moving and catchy! See Me River is soft and gloomy yet crafted with super talented musicians. Love this album, and I love the unique sound of See Me River. Must pick up a copy today!
Our jams are Track 1 – Heroine, Track 2 – The One That Got A Wake, Track 5 – A Drink to the Kids, Track 7 – The Day the Sun Died, and Track 8 – Betrayed

glad you like it. we recorded it in less than a week, all to 2 inch tape (very analog) with only half the songs remotely arranged. i think its the best shit we’ve done yet. ok. peace
