“WE WENT ACROSS THE STREET AND JUST BURNED THIS FUCKIN PLACE DOWN! THERE WAS TABLE TOP BARS WITH NAKED FUCKIN CHICKS, DUDE.. IT WAS CHOAS! IT WAS FUCKIN BAD ASS. IT WAS FUCKIN ROCK AND ROLL!” -JAKE WILLIAMS, VIOLENCE TO VEGAS
Rock and roll seems to change daily. The bands, the sounds, the scene etc. What doesn’t change is the spirit, and Violence To Vegas follows that rule. This week I caught up with front man Jake Williams to see what this band was all about. To say the least, it was rad to see there are still bands out there going at this machine head on!
Violence To Vegas hails out of Oklahoma, and most recently they’ve been on the road opening for Sevendust and Adelitas Way. From the little bit I heard about this tour, I knew this was a full on rock fireball circus. Jake explains how Emphatic had to drop off the tour right away due to the lead singer getting choked out in a bar, and damaging his vocal chords. The band Seven Day Sonnet stepped up to fill in. You can find out more about that band from my previous CIOM interview here.
One of the main topics I wanted to hit on was being a new band on the scene. It’s no secret, rock and roll can be the most unforgiving, cut throat, ass kicking gig in the entire world. What keeps a band going? What keeps a band like Violence To Vegas not only in the game, but also how do they keep moving up? Jake explains how being independent, when done right, can be a blessing in this industry. If you are a new band on the scene, play close attention to his advise! We discussed how Adelitas Way Has been indie for most of their career, and just recently had the #1 rock song in the country.
Violence To Vegas is getting set to record a new track with Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust, and then hitting the road again to rule the world. At the end of the interview you get a taste of their new single “Bulletproof” which you can also download for free right now at: WWW.VIOLENCETOVEGAS.COM. Yup. Totally free.
If you get a chance to see these guys live, I have a feeling you are in for one hell of a ride!
