Rob Thomas at the Coeur d’Alene Casino on Wednesday, August 11th

This evening was a girl’s night out with my Aunt Kate, who is a huge Rob Thomas fan and she was beaming with excitement; we had a great time.

We got to hear Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20, Rob Thomas, and Rob. The music spread from all over his career and even covers from bands he personally loved. Tonight was about three things, songs, songs, and songs! He told us if we didn’t hear at least one or two songs tonight that we wanted to hear then he probably played them last night.

Rob Thomas stood on stage sometimes alone with his piano, or with his acoustic guitar, and sometimes with his back up guitar players or piano players (which were some of his good friends). It was very broken down and personal even though we were in a big space that was Sold Out. Rob just chatted about everything in between songs.

Opening up with “Mockingbird,” and continuing with “Sleep Till The War Is Over,” “When the Heartache Ends,” “Ever the Same,” “Bent,” “Crazy (Willie Nelson),” “3AM,” “Getting Late,” “That’s All Right (Elvis),” “Streetcorner Symphony,” “Now Comes the Night,” “Lonely No More,” “Her Diamonds,” “Someday,” “Disease,” “Unwell,” “You Won’t Be Mine,” “Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper),” “Not Just A Women,” “Smooth,” “This Is How a Heartbreaks,” and last but not least “Bright Lights.”

It was funny towards the end of the evening he told us he had a few more, but once he leaves the stages that’s it; he’s not gonna screw with us. In other words he didn’t feel the need to leave, get a lot of applause, just to come back on; I like his style! Every little story in between each song was hilarious like how he spent a few days with Willie and all they did was smoke pot or how when you hang out with Mick Jagger and it doesn’t matter who you are, you still hold his coat. My favorite story was how when he was in high school he said he had two piercings and just didn’t quite get the ladies. So he would carry a Lionel Richie song book with him to the parties and if there was a piano, after all the drunks jocks would pass out he would play a lil Lionel on the piano for the ladies and then all the sudden he was the shit! He said he met Lionel once and he told him, Lionel I used your songs to get laid in high school… Lionel said so did I!

He shared about his song writing, how he would write eight songs but out of those eight only one of them he wants people to hear. He was very personable, he shook hands. Girls ran up to the stage and gave him signs and a rose, a shirt. One sign he said was inappropriate; he wasn’t sure if the crowd was 21 and older or 18 and older or what. He then said hey if you’re in a casino I am sure you have heard worse. So he didn’t refrain from bad words and he posted the inappropriate sign up… it read “California Fan # 69 Stalker.” He also didn’t worry about telling us if he messed up in a song. He was having fun and in return so was the crowd! It was a perfect evening of music and it was wonderful to spend a night with my aunt!

Funniest part might have been the crazy fast (thought we were going to die laughing so hard) golf kart ride back to the car; damn Kate we should of done it again!

Coolest part was how the show was a benefit for Sidewalk Angels. Learn More Here.

Rob Thomas YOU ROCK and yes you are “the Shit!”

P.S. – mind my not so grand photos :) I just took them from my seat! Thanks

Gretchen Wilson

I first became aware of Gretchen Wilson when her hit “Redneck Woman” hit the airwaves back in 2004. After disappearing from the country music scene for some time; Gretchen Wilson is back in full force with a new record and her own record label!

The CDA Casino was 80% full of cowboys and cowgirls ready to rock to this country queen who some in Nashville deemed “too country.” That didn’t seem to matter to the folks in the crowd, they were country as could be and were ready for the show.

Gretchen hit the stage at 7:01 and it was 90 minute of solid country foot stompin’ fun! She has such an outstanding stage presence and an amazing voice! Gretchen rallied through the hits as the crowd stood on their feet the entire time!

Best of luck to Gretchen Wilson with her new album and here endeavors with her new record label “Redneck Records”

Miranda Lambert
July 15th at The CDA Casino

“Ya’ll ready for some rock n roll tonight?”  Heck yes I was! Most of the country concerts I’ve been to usually play two types of music. Country and Western. Miranda Lambert was definitely the exception to the rule. In fact this Texan only plays by her rules; which in itself…Rules.

Miranda Lambert is a sweet blonde bombshell from my favorite state Texas. I’ve had the opportunity of meeting and chatting about the music scene with Miranda before, but had not had the chance until tonight to see her perform live. Boy was I in for a treat

I recall her telling me that she had been a house band in all types of clubs, pubs and what have you, so I knew that she enjoyed lots of classic rock tunes and liked  mixing it up in her sets.

It’s pretty cool to see a country artist go from playing her own hits like Me and Charlie Talkin’ and Gunpowder & Lead. To rockin’ covers of Travelin’ Band, Up on Cripple Creek and a big crowd favorite cover of I Love Rock N Roll that gave Joan Jett a run for her money

Miranda’s set was about 80 minutes of pure Texas rock n roll that was absolutely amazing. A great band, a great show, a cutie with the booty that Blake Shelton gets to call his girlfriend. Lucky!

Texas girls are the best, I should know I got one, and Miranda should make anyone in the lone star state proud to call her their own.
