Blitzen Trapper

By Andrea Williams

Blitzen Trapper at the Knitting Factory on Wednesday, June 2nd

I know it is horrible that we missed the Moondoggies however we were rushing and I mean rushing from Portland to work, to home, to the show! Everyone kept telling us how amazing they were which I don’t doubt because they are always brilliant live. However, until next time…

Sub Pop Records very own Blitzen Trapper has stunning harmonies that will take you and stop you in your tracks and push you back in your feet. Something about how at times you can hear two electric guitars, an acoustic guitar, a bass guitar, and three vocals all at once that makes me ear happy! Blitzen Trapper sounded super clean, clear and on top of their game. You could hear all the cool instruments they would pull out and play too like a maraca and a harmonica.

It was also cool to see a bunch of local musicians at the show as well. Blitzen Trapper said it was nice to be back out on the road and in Spokane. They said they were admiring our city and the Davenport District. They asked if anyone lived in the Davenport District. I quietly hooted, I think we were the only ones…. kinda awkward. On top of getting all six members of Blitzen Trapper performing together, we also got to see main singer perform a few songs by himself. I liked how respectfully the band either waited on stage or walked off for a song or two. It was a bit like watching to different bands. Blitzen Trapper was a treat for a Wednesday night in Spokane. They had kids dancing; they had a “couples skate,” and sounded great!

We also picked up a sweet Blitzen Trapper pink and white 7” with “War Is Placebo” and “Booksmart Baby.”
