Album Haiku: This Is Happening by LCD Soundsystem
Ass shaking good time
Edgy smart dance punk greatness
Drunk girls will boogie
4 out of 5
This album will make everyone dance not just “Drunk Girls” although the song is a catchy 3 and 1/2 minutes that will be stuck in your head for days and is the one real commercial / pop song on the album. This is Happening is a dance classic with most of the songs ranging from 6 – 10 minutes and shows just how cool James Murphy still is. The album also has soul with very smart and quirky lyrics. I described the album in a Sasquatch! preview as dance-riffic. That was my one word explanation of the album that might be a insult to Mr. Murphy after listening to how great his song writing is.
The songs I can’t stop listening to on the album are: “Drunk Girls”, “You Wanted a Hit” and “One Touch”.
