Ashley Gearing at the KIX 96 Studio Lounge on Thursday, July 14th
What a doll; Ashley Gearing glowed on stage as her bubbly personality shined through her songs and her voice… her voice was smooth and flawless. I was introduced to the country music of Miss Ashley Gearing today. At only twenty years of age this belle has enough talent that I know I will never have the opportunity to see her perform in a room this small again.
Ashley Gearing and her friend Dave whipped up five songs for thirty or so people today in Spokane at the KIX 96 Studio Lounge. We clapped and tapped our feet too “Crazy Good Wonderful Life,” “Get To Me,” “Something To Talk About”(Bonnie Raitt Cover), “Me My Heart and I,” and last but not least “Five More Minutes.” Ashley Gearing’s honeybee vocals knocked the cowboy boots right off of our feet! In between each song Ashley had something to share with us; which I have to say is what makes these mini concerts so cool because, we learn a little more than one would hear at a concert.
Ashley’s first debut single was at the age of twelve and she signed her first record deal at thirteen. However Ashley really wanted to experience life and so she took a break, went back to 6th Grade and around her sophomore year in high school she signed her second record deal with Curb Records. At eighteen she realized she would need to move to Nashville, and in doing so came the song “Me My Heart and I,” which is about following your heart. Ashley Gearing also played the acoustic guitar on this song and during her cover of “Something To Talk About.” “Something To Talk About” was a song she used to sing when she was a little girl, like Laura, who was a girl in the crowd. Right after her second song she pointed out Laura in the crowd and asked her, her age. Of course Laura piped right up with “nine” and Ashley smiled and mentioned how she started singing around then. During the meet and great portion of the mini concert Ashley gave Laura a heart shaped pink guitar pick; which just had to have had made Laura’s day… that was very kind of her to do.
Speaking of pink, Ashley is so a twenty year old girl… she loves pink! She signed everything in pink and custom ordered those pink heart shaped guitar picks. Like I mentioned above she is such a bubbly positive person. She lit up the room and took the time to talk to everyone. Personality aside her vocals are incredible, they gave me goose bumps!!! I am so excited to watch her become a star overnight… after seeing her perform a few songs I have a gut feeling she is going to make a huge impact in the country music scene. You can purchase her current single “Five More Minutes” on iTunes right now and I would definitely recommend you check out Miss Ashley Gearing HERE.
