Gloriana at the KIX 96 Studio Lounge on Wednesday, February 16th
Gloriana is the first band to ever get a standing ovation at the KIX 96 Studio Lounge after a mini concert; first ever!
The four bright faces of Gloriana lit up the KIX 96 Studio Lounge today with songs and lots of great stories! They also were one of the only bands to have a killer Q&A! There were 5 or so people in the crowd who had questions and each question had a great answer by the band; we learned a lot about Gloriana!
One of the more rare things I learned about Gloriana was how they were a three piece before becoming Gloriana, called Midnight Three which by the way you have to whisper because it sounds way cooler when you do, verses just saying it. When Cheyenne joined the band they were fumbling with names and Mike, Tom, and Rachel asked her about becoming the Midnight Four but she was not a fan. They talked about the word glory because of their music, harmonies and vocals. Therefore one day it came out, Gloriana!
Musically speaking they knocked the socks off of our feet. They insisted to be acoustic and played unplugged for us and WHOA. The harmonies were as sweet as cupcakes and I loved the two boys, two girls factor. They are balanced and each of their vocals stand out enough to be different but blend as a group perfectly. Plus they write their own songs! In fact they wrote about 60 for their upcoming album and so far have narrowed it down to about 12, crazy!!! The album is due out this summer so keep your eyes out for it! I also like what instruments they use, verses your basic guitar, bass and drums. Cheyenne plays the Mandolin and Mike rocked a “Ganjo” or “Bantair” which was a banjo guitar instrument, it was actually really awesome!
Gloriana played four songs for us today, mixing it perfectly with new and old songs. They opened with “Sunset Lovin’,” and went on to play as they called it a trusty old dusty song “Wild At Heart,” then “Piece of My Heart” and last but not least “Wanna Take You Home.” It was funny to hear Tom talk about the song “Wanna Take You Home” because he explained how when they play on stage as much as the audience watches them, they watch you just as much. Therefore “Wanna Take You Home” is about how there are a lot of really hot chicks with really good dance moves, that he well wants to take home.
I thought all four members of Gloriana were really funny, kind, appreciative, and genuine! They took time to talk and have fun with their music! I have been a fan since I saw them open for Taylor Swift but after getting to see them today I adore them even more! I can’t wait for their new album to come out this summer!
