Greg Youmans

By Andrea Williams

Greg Youmans on Wednesday, September 22nd at the Spokane Farmers Market

For the first day of Fall, it was beautiful outside! Matt was reading the Inlander and found out about Greg Youmans and how he is a one man band that plays the Spokane Farmers Market! We had a few minutes in the morning so we managed to make a quick run and check things out!

The Farmer’s Market is darling, and full of color and fall harvest! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on an apple! However the first order of business was to see the Port-O-Powwow One Man Band Backpack and Mr. Greg Youmans himself! Sure enough he was playing to a small crowd of all ages. We quickly walked over and he instantly put a smile on our faces with his love for music and having a good time. Jumping, singing, bouncing and casually interacting with the crowd. He played a song for us about chickens, which rhymed and had us laughing.

Greg Youmans also played us a song to the well known tune of “Rock Around the Clock”. He even did his most dangerous trick of all… walking backwards. He just seemed to be enjoying himself and the crowd was loving it just as much. Everyone causally standing or sitting with fresh fruit in their hands; I finally managed to grab a rather grand Apple from Greenwave Gardens in Northpoint, Washington. It was a quick but absolutely lovely way to spend the morning! I hope we get to come back and see Greg with his Port-O-Powwow One Man Band Backpack Instrument; it is a work of art played by an artist with color!
