Songs we can’t take off repeat; “Can’t Cash My Checks,” “That’s Why I Write Songs,” “The Guitar Song,” and “Front Porch Swing Afternoon.” Hell the entire album is great and deserves to be on everyone’s end of the year Best Album List, and win tons of awards… not that it would matter.
When I went to Nashville in February Jamey Johnson left my jaw dragging through Broadway Street the two times I heard him perform. I could not stop talking about “That’s Why I Write Songs,” and “Can’t Cash My Checks.” I was so excited when the Guitar Song came out. Its 25 songs on two CD’s titled the Black Album and the White Album, both chalked full of great stories. You don’t wonder if he lived these songs or not because, of his passion and witty brilliance of writing and performing them. Jamey Johnson is a true honest talent that doesn’t care about the pretty boy mold that Nashville pumps out in country music these days.
