Jim Brickman on Wednesday, November 17th at the KISS Studio Lounge
With a Christmas tree decorated and lighted Jim Brickman delighted to us a morning full of Christmas music. The music and the setting was gorgeous and got me so excited, once again, for Christmas. Jim Brickman is so talented! It was really funny because I guess he doesn’t tour with a keyboard like we had set up for him, because we had a KORG Keyboard for him and he had a blast playing it. He would just pick a built in tempo and turn it into a Christmas song, even like the crazy hip hip ones. It was hilarious plus it really showed how talented he is; just to pick a beat and holiday it out in a snap.
Jim Brickman played a few classics for us including “Joy to the World,” “Jingle Bells,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” which were magical. However then Jim Brickman told us how as a kid he loved watching A Charlie Brown Christmas and how he always wanted to be Schroeder because he never talks but just plays the piano. Jim then went into “Christmas Time Is Here” like you hear in A Charlie Brown Christmas and it gave me goose bumps; oh my gosh he hit it perfectly and even gave it a little sass at the end! That was icing on the cake.
Jim Brickman also played two songs for us one called “The Gift” where he also sings on the song and it was really sweet song and then another song called “Simple Things.” “Simple Things” is also one of Jim Brickman’s favorite songs, especially for the holidays. I just kept thinking how talented he was both singing and on the piano, and it is perfect holiday music. It was mesmerizing to watch his fingers waltz across the keys. You could tell he really loved doing this because he was so into every note and you could read it on his face.
Jim Brickman is also the guy behind the Fred Meyer Jingle which we got to hear, along with a few others. Jim Brickman was very personably and kind, he really is a great person.
Jim Brickman will be back in town on Tuesday, December 28th at the INB Performing Arts Center on his 15th Anniversary Holiday Concert Tour. From what he played today I know it is going to be a wonderful evening of music. For more information on the show and tickets Click Here.
You can also check out a few songs on video from the morning HERE.
Thank you Jim, for coming in that brightened my morning so much!
