Katie Armiger at the KIX 96 Studio Lounge on Tuesday, January 18th
Texan Katie Armiger stopped by the KIX 96 Studio today, in a bright red dress with an ear to ear smile. She and Jesse her guitar player who also does a little backup harmonies played five songs for a small audience. It was cool she had Jesse by her side because the first place they ever played together was actually at the KIX 96 Studios last year! They had great chemistry and lit up the room with laughter.
Katie Armiger played “Ain’t Gonna Happen,” “Kiss Me Now,” “That’s Why,” “Best Song Ever,” and a special request song for the room today! The four songs above are all off her new album “Confessions of a Nice Girl” which came out in October of 2010. She definitely won me over with her happy personality and because she reads the Twilight Books! In fact “Kiss Me Now” was based on the love triangle that begins to brew in the 2nd Twilight book New Moon; she even wrote the song in under an hour!
Katie was full of funny stories and really did open up to the crowd! She even told us about “Sir Purr A Lot” which is her fake cat. I guess Katie has always wanted a cat, so one year for her birthday a friend of hers mailed her a fake cat in a box. It really freaked her out because it was one of the cat’s that are battery operated and look like they are breathing! Super funny story, she thought it was real at first then she thought it was a dead stuffed cat… anyhow it was hilarious! Plus Sir Purr A Lot still sits in her living room today!
I can’t wait to dig more into Katie’s album “Confessions of A Nice Girl” and I am so excited I had the opportunity to check her out today!
