Katrina

By Andrea Williams

Katrina on Wednesday, April 13th at the KCDA Studio Lounge

The first thing I wanted to say about Katrina was how she was the nicest artist that I have ever seen at the KCDA Studio Lounge. She gave every single person in the audience hugs and took the time to chat for a second! She was so sweet and super personable which just made her stand out from any other artist I have seen in the Lounge. She also had this adorable bubbly personality and was just as cute as a button!

A little something I bet you didn’t know about Katrina is she graduated from law school, so watch out she’s a lady of many trades. Her new album titled “In the Blink Of An Eye” comes out late this Spring and after watching her perform a few songs, we are all excited for the release!

Katrina sang three songs for us and an encore with her friend Matt who played the acoustic guitar and did a little backup vocals. Matt has played on American Idol, the Tonight Show with Lady Gaga, and with Matthew Morrison from Glee. He was definitely talented, I also enjoyed how she made a point to introduce the musician with her (not all artists do that, sometimes it’s all about them). The three songs Katrina played for us were “Shame On Me,” “Taken,” and “So Eden.”

Shame On Me is her first single, and the album title actually came from a lyric in Taken. Katrina also thinks that So Eden will be her second single. Each song was beautiful, Katrina has rich soulful vocals and there is no doubt that she can sing. She is a very animated artist, singing with her hands as well as showing emotion in her face. After an audience member asked for one more song she played her encore and managed to spend almost an hour talking to the audience, signing, and taking photos.

Katrina is a complete gem and like I mentioned above the entire audience is excited too hear her full album after watching a few songs live! Keep an eye out for the album release date and learn more about Katrina HERE.
