KISS

By Andrea Williams

KISS at the Spokane Arena on Friday, June 24th

I am still amped up from the KISS Concert two days later! Every time I tell someone about the concert my eyes light up and I get butterflies in my tummy. We were in the nosebleeds seats and I still had the time of my life; not sure if that has to do with the fact that there is not a bad seat for a KISS show (because you can still see everything) or if it was because of everyone singing along and rocking out around me. I had no expectations going into the show because I have never seen KISS before. After the concert I realized they set the bar for the perfect rock concert. They have the music, the instruments, the hair, the spandex and metal studs, the platform boots, the makeup, the pyro, the smoke machines, the video effects, the blood, the amps, and the attitude.

Everywhere I looked in the audience fans had their favorite KISS shirt on. I also couldn’t believe the amount of fans who rocked well done KISS make-up; there were even a select few who went the extra mile to rock the spandex, chains, leather wings, big hair, and even the platform boots. KISS was rockin’ more glam then I was and I even made a point to do my makeup and doll myself up for the show. I would like to add that not only KISS were glamified but their instruments too! There was a hatchet bass guitar, a glitter guitar, and even a guitar that shot out fire! I have to give the entire band a huge round of applause for rockin it for two hours in those platforms too!! Dear lord I probably wouldn’t have made it through the first three songs.

KISS passed up Seattle on this tour and tonight we were living proof that size does not matter! KISS rock n rolled all nite long paying songs throughout their entire catalog for two hours! I shook my big hair too “Rock N Roll All Nite,” “Shout It Out Loud,” “Detroit Rock City,” “Lick It Up,” “Love Gun” “God of Thunder,” “Firehouse,” “Calling Dr.Love,” “100,000 Years,” “Shock Me” and many more! I thought it was way badass that every member in the band sang at least one song, even the drummer Eric Singer blew away the crowd when he came to the front of the stage and sang “Beth.”

KISS ended the night with “Rock N Roll All Nite” and confetti cannons that covered the audience on the floor. Then Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer were lifted into the air on platforms as they finished out the song; however to just add the cherry on top Paul Stanley broke his guitar!!! It was awesome!!! I am forever a KISS fan and just hope I have the opportunity to see this show again, and take my dad.

I have reviewed over 300 concerts since my time working with Check It Out Music and this is in MY TOP 5.
