Matthew Lindley at the Blue Spark on Friday, October 16th
Matt and I were excited to see our old co-worker and friend Matthew Lindley play in Spokane; and we weren't the only ones. The Blue Spark was full of all sorts of people and a good chunk of them were there to say hello to their friend Matt (who currently lives in Portland now).
Matthew Lindley stood on stage with his guitar and suitcase of harmonicas dressed in converses, torn jeans, a button up shirt, with a blue tie, and to top it off a fedora. He casually greeted the crowd and began to play.
His music is laid back casual rock with a hint of blues. I love the harmonica and his approach on stage he is a really nice guy and a fun person to see live. It was cool that he was playing at the Blue Spark because he said this was one of the first places he had ever played his music. People would say hi as they walked by him and dance when ever they walked in front of the stage.
It is a super cool bar and atmosphere but a little difficult for live music. It is more to be there in the background and not so much the focus where the audience would stop talking during his set. Besides that we got to hear some of his older songs and some newer ones we have not heard before.
Matt got to her his jam and we drank beer and had a good night. If you are ever in Portland look for a show flyer with his name on it and check it out.
