Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band

By Andrea Williams

Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band at the Empyrean on Wednesday, August 8th

I was driving home after a long day and stopped on the corner of Washington and 2nd, outside the Empyrean was Michelle. I just wanted to say Hi to her and in a few seconds she convinced me to come inside and catch the tail end of Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band.

I was excited to hear that on August 3rd they released a new album “Where the Messengers Meet.” I will say I was dead beat exhausted, but Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band kind of picked me up for twenty minutes and made me miss seeing live shows at the Empyrean. It’s been a while since we have been there due to work & schedules… it was good to see familiar faces there too.

I got to hear a few new tunes from the band which were a bit on the more mellow eerie side and I even got to hear our jam “Albatross, Albatross, Albatross.” I didn’t have my camera on me so I couldn’t take a pictures, so sorry about that. Hearing a few new tunes off their new album intrigued me and I can’t wait to dig into it more. Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band is a Seattle Gem that everyone needs to see at least once, or in my case six or seven times and counting.
