Elvis Costello – My Aim is True
7″ – Pavement – Gold Soundz, Kneeling Bus – Strings of Nashville, Exit Theory
My Aim is True is Elvis Costello’s first album that was released in 1977 before the Attractions played with Elvis. This album starts with “Welcome To The Working Week” that is a 1 minute and 35 second bad ass start to any album. This album is chalked full of hits including the radio hit ballad “Alison”, “Watching The Detectives”,” Less Than Zero”, “Mystery Dance” and “(The Angles Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes”. It was a true enjoyment to have the time in my busy Thursday to listen to this Elvis Costello Gem.
The 7″ I picked out today was “Gold Soundz” by Pavement on red vinyl. Gold Soundz is my Pavement song. It is the perfect quirky pop song that is only a few minutes long, has great lyrics and is just a slacker summer jam for me. I also picked it because I can’t wait to see them at Sasquatch next month.
