Train Sound Check Party on Thursday, September 16th at the INB Performing Arts Center!
I ended up at the Train Sound Check Party so I thought ehh why not review it! My favorite thing part Sound Check Parties are not the artists; even though I do like Train! My favorite part…seeing the band interact together like humans; seeing how the show gets put together! Sometimes it’s more fascinating then the show!
We got to see the humor of Pat, how they poke fun at each other, and play their favorite songs while waiting around at Sound Check; example the keyboard played totally rocked “Blackbird” by the Beatles on his acoustic guitar.
The personal aspect of the sound check rocks too. Today Pat’s daughter was with him. She was a doll, with sparkly shoes and a straight up pony tail! She just wanted to hang with dad as he sang songs. When they all first came out on stage it was a little goofing around… some “Eye of the Tiger” into “Here Comes My Girl” by Petty.
The one thing that drove my nuts the whole time was how I swear the second guitar player looked just like Howie Mandel! Yes I occasionally watch America’s Got Talent! The second surprise was all of the instruments they had! On top of your usual drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard; there was a trumpet, saxophone, ukulele, huge three feet wide single drum, percussion kit, and a huge xylophone! It was taking a bit longer for them to tune all of that but Pat, apologized because they haven’t had their own gear in two weeks!
The boys deiced to play a bit of “Hey, Soul Sister” for us and also played “Mississippi” and “Save Me, San Francisco” in full with their awesome synchronized video screen! It was definitely one of the cooler sound checks I have been too! Plus the entire band was super nice, and made it fun for everyone! Now I can’t get “Hey Soul Sister” out of my head!
