I want to start this by saying LEAH you ROCK! You did such an amazing job putting Volume together; it was a blast all the way until the end of the night at Midnight. The bands showcased were Matthew Winters, Space Opera 77, Jaeda, Ze Krau, & FAUS. The evening also including the PJAMRS Marching Band, Koreshakti Tribal Fusion, and the oh so sexy Pasties & Paddles. To top it off Cookie Monster, the Pink Panther, a Kanye West Teddy Bear, Big Bad Wolf, the Easter Bunny, and a Rubber Chicken were also in presence and dancing all night.
The evening included costumes, confetti, $3 Volume drinks, fun noodles, and a lot of PBR on top of the music! One of the coolest local shows I have ever been too; it was like a music fun house at the carnival!
Matthew Winters said one of the best lines of the evening “…everyone that is 21 get a drink, everyone that’s not 21 be sneaky as fuck.” Matthew opened up with a song he wrote like two days ago and played a set that included some of my favorites! Space Opera 77 rocked on the stage and after the set mingling with the crowd. Jaeda blew away everyone as a female rapper. Ze Krau looked hot in a Flinestone-ish dress and fishnets. FAUS killed the night by handing out fun noodles for kids to beat each other up with and then getting into the crowd for their last song. I just don’t even know how to describe the talent that was on the Knitting Factory stage. I have seen almost all of those bands numerous times and each and every one is so different and unique. It was a treat to have all of the artists in one night, kind of like a local music fan’s dream!
On top of the fantastic music, the PJAMRS got the night going. And for the first time ever we got to see Pasties & Paddles (which I will be seeing more of because it was so cool)! The place was full, which made us so happy that kids supported the Spokane Music Scene. The main bummer of the night… people left early and missed Ze Krau and FAUS. However if you missed FAUS you missed out.
Again Leah and Luke, kudos. Loved it and I can’t wait for next year’s issue and concert! Party On, Man!
